英会話クラスで舞妓（まいこ）さんネタの発表がありました。 舞妓さんと芸妓（げいこ）さんについてメモしておきます。 京都の場合 Maiko and Geiko are female entertainers. They wear kimono. They are trained in singing, dancing, playing the traditional Japanese musical instruments. Differences between Maiko and Geiko: Maiko  wear  maiko -style kimono. ( furisode , darari -no-obi) They use their own hair to make Nihon- gami . They are young girls who want to be Geiko in the future. They are Geiko apprentices. Geiko  wear kimono and Nihon- gami wig. 友人に予約を入れてもらってマツダミュージアムの見学へ。 受付はマツダ本社ビル１階。 午後からの日本語ツアーの予約が取れなかったので、午前中の英語ツアーに参加。 外国人観光客に混じっての見学は、外国に行った気分でおもしろい。 マツダといえばロータリーエンジン ここからは英語で My friend took me to a Mazda museum tour. The morning tour was done in English, so there were many foreign guests. I saw many cars and engines. Though I don't understand how a rotary engine works, I was happy to see how things are made. The first Japanese car which won the race at Le Mans (Note: The 24 Hours of Le Mans is the car race held near the town of Le Mans, France. It is the 24-hour endurance race. 24 heures du Mans in French) Its engin: 787B 4-rotor engine Two-rotor rotary engine Plastic model car in real size: They make plastic cars in design making process. 毎日１ページでも良いから音読しています。 口述試験対策として音読しているのは 『日本的事象英文説明300選』 一緒に購入したCDを聞き流ししたり、シャドーイング練習をしたりすることもあります。 ・テキストを音読 ・重要単語を蛍光マーカーで色付け ・自問自答して自分の言葉でどの程度答えられるかチェック 例えば 古墳 What is Kofun? It is a burial mound. It was built for the ruling class people during the 4th to 7th centuries. It contains funerary objects, such as jewels and metal mirrors. きっと試験ではこんなに上手く答えられないけど、話すネタとキーワードは頭に入れておきます。何を聞かれても、とりあえず何か答える反射神経を鍛えます。

『赤毛のアン』の終わりの章に、曲がり角についてのセリフがあります。 "Anne of Green Gables"　 Chapter 38: The Bend in the Road （道の曲がり角）より “When I left Queen's my future seemed to stretch out before me like a straight road.
